Cargo Overseas operate a fully comprehensive open general policy for insurance and we are busily preparing ourselves for the new procedures due into place in January 2005.

With our large project, charter, specialist movements and markets Cargo Overseas are committed to providing insurance cover in the future and are fully embracing the need for regulation in 2005 when it will become illegal to offer insurance if not registered with the FSA. The prohibitive cost which many forwarders will face is a real issue but one we cannot avoid if we are to maintain the high levels of service we provide in these specialist markets. Our general forwarding services will also benefit as we will be able to continue to offer insurance where many other forwarders will be forced to cease to offer this valuable commodity. With the number of CIF movements worldwide running at such a high rate shippers will have to take out their own insurance which is costly on a shipment-by-shipment basis, change the terms of sale or choose their freight-forwarder carefully to ensure they can provide these terms.

Cargo Overseas will always be able to sell insurance where others may not and our bulk-purchase under our open general policy ensures our premiums will always be competitive and these savings will benefit our customers now and into the future.
