 Cargo Overseas continue to strengthen it's position as one of the leading freight forwarders in the UK. With an increased position in the UK's top 200 IATA freight forwarders our freight spend with IATA CASS continues to increase against a background of ever decreasing rates.
The latest figures published in Aircargo News show that Cargo Overseas spend increased on the previous year by £18,000 which doesn't sound a lot until you put it against the back-drop of the recession we are in. The freight costs used to calculate these figures are based on nett freight spend excluding Fuel and Operational surcharges an IATA specific airlines. These rates have been reducing with Fuel being the fluctuating factor which has maintained similar rate levels to shippers, when you look at the top 200 list there are some considerable reductions in spend across the board with many freight forwarders posting a reduction in freight spend.
Cargo Overseas provides a broad spectrum of services encompassing many different airlines. Our top 10 airlines which we spend with are all IATA approved airlines with nine out of the ten being national carriers, the exception is Virgin Airlines which is as close to a national carrier as you can get. With our continued increasing volume of airfrieght business and particular specialist cargo areas we continue to provide a valuable service to airlines looking for cargo at a time when other freight forwarders are reducing their volumes. This allows us to continue to provide ever more competitive rates to our customers whilst working with those cargo airlines providing the most competitive services. By holding firm and continuing to work with premium airlines with few services on charter(tourist) aircraft we feel our services are the best in the business.
2009's figures will not be published until this time next year but reviewing the first six months of the year it looks like we have continued to increase our spend and will make further inroads into the UK's top 200 IATA forwarders.
