ATA Carnet
What is a Carnet? : a carnet is an international customs document that permits duty-free temporary import of goods for upto one year.  By presenting an ATA carnet to customs you can import consignments duty and tax free into a country signed upto the ATA Carnet system.

The ATA carnet document accompanying your consignment simplifies the customs processes in each country visited.  Ideal for goods transitting for exhbitions or commercial sales where sales staff take samples from country to country.   The carnet acts as a financial garauntee to customs officials that, in the event that the consignments are not re-exported, import duties and taxes will be paid.

Cargo Overseas operate under the ATA Carnet scheme continously and are very experienced in all processes.  Assisitng customers in applying for ATA Carnets and the completion of the relevant customs documentation is one of the roles in which Cargo Overseas helps our customers.  ATA Carnets have many benefits:

  • Carnets simplify customs border crossings through several countries in one movement.
  • Goods can travel to and from the UK multiple times on one document.
