Cargo Overseas Limited was established in Liverpool in 1990 and quickly established a reputation for providing a professional and reliable service to its customers. Concentrating on NVOCC services with particular emphasis on the Americas and the mining industry we quickly gained a reputation for handling project, charter and out of guage equipment to the most difficult areas of the world. Africa, Siberia, Central China and Central Asia were particular specialities and although these areas have improved links local expertise is still key to the services Cargo Overseas provides.
In 2001 Cargo Overseas opened a dedicated airfreight office in Manchester. This was the first in a series of plans to increase our overall company from a niche operator into a more established freight-forwarder. The airfreight office was manned by highly skilled airfreight specialists with solid links to airlines and forged strong relationships with a multitude of airlines to provide consolidation and dedicated airfreight services. Handling aircraft charters within months of opening and handling out-of-gauge movements to offline destinations throughout the world Airlines wanted to be the preferred carrier for Cargo Overseas Limited.
In 2003 and with the success of the Manchester operation Cargo Overseas decided to consolidate both offices into one and close the original Liverpool office. The movement went well with a much larger operation in one location providing customers with improved communication across all fronts. Cargo Overseas used this opportunity to re-brand their services and products to better reflect their developing movements into other areas with a truly full multi-modal offering incorporating Air / Sea / Road and rail services across the world. This re-branding also reflected the aggressive nature with which we looked to develop and strengthen our services. Aquisition of companies and personnel which would develop our services in strategic market places was a natural progression and so we looked at companies which were strategically placed. In 2008 Cargo Overseas Limited absorbed the above three companies into our existing infrastructure. Already working together under the Cargo Overseas group company banner and based within our Manchester facility it was felt that the time had come to combine all these services into one company. Customers of each company already dealt with inter-company staff as the back-end had already become one in 2007 and the finalisation for the customer of this move gave customers more clarity going forward.
Cargo Overseas Limited expect and anticipate to make more aquisitions to compliment the multi-modal services which we provide. Continued investment in Companies, Services and the training of personnel is a key factor in our continous improvement strategy which allows Cargo Overseas to increase our customer portfolio year on year whilst dealing in markets which challenge the biggest and best Multi-modal logistics providers.
